Both Deceased Students Identified in Brown University Attack as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant persisted following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the renowned school, family members said.

The victim's identification was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a police operation at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause new worry for our city”.

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a police source told the media outlet.

Officers that entered the hotel recovered two handguns and magazines when the person of interest was detained, the news agency reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, one student was discharged from care, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a independent school in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Additional Memorials

Cook was honored at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at Brown she was a shining example in that specific location as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “She was famed for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she aided her club and other students,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and schoolmates and grieve for of his bright future.”
